We chose not to share our soon-to-be son's name with anyone. So no one knew the slight dilemma we had with his name. You see the name Xavier, French for savior, has an inherent problem. It's contant mispronunciation. The correct way to pronounce it, and the way we originally decided to pronounce it, is (Zay-vee-er). Most everyone pronounces it incorrectly(X-zay-vee-er). I blame myself for over thinking the situation. I thought rather than have our son spend his life correcting or ignoring the mispronunciation we would go with mispronunciation. Well after further review we decided to educate rather than perpetuate. (Am I the only one who misses Johnny Cochran?) We could not bring ourselves to knowingly mispronounce our son's name. So, let it be stated right here today, the name is pronounced ZAY-VEE-ER! And if you mispronounce it don't worry, he'll correct you.
